More Care Pack photos

Students giving back to Kaikoura

On Wednesday 7th December at  10:30am to collect all of the care packs. The whole Senior Syndicate got very excited when the big truck pulled up into the Goodwood School carpark. The students all passed their finished boxes to the men to load into the truck, followed by taking lots of photos. The truck was massive and the kids were so happy when the box-filled truck drove away to its next destination. The Senior Syndicate hope that the learners in Kaikoura like their gifts and look forward to hearing from them.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Kate and Mitch Plaw of Cambridge for offering the transport of both truck and helicopter, Lionel Killen IPL Direct Transport Manager for organising the truck (fellow  Goodwood student), Regan Silcock  who was the truck driver and all the businesses/ families who helped make this possible. The message that you have given our learners is something you can not receive from a book and it is something that they will remember for years to come.

Lego Challenge

This term Ruma Kiwi's is focusing on walking the talk with 'No one is left behind'. To reignite our passion for problem solving and collaboration we took part in a lego challenge. We were given a sphero and a box of lego and we had to get it from one side of the room to the other. Key objectives - use a minimum of 29piece of lego - to represent each student on the roll - we couldn't physically touch our designs or help it move - we had to collaborate - share our ideas and persevere - had to make sure our creations didn't break It was a lot of fun and so much learning to place!

Instructional Writing

This week in writing the students created instructions for something that they were good at doing or creating. They then had to teach their skill to students from across the senior syndicate. They also at to create google forms to give to their workshopees who attended their lesson to receive feedback. The students had a blast.
